The Rana Family and the Making of Modern Pakistan

Deskripsi

While we’ve covered the military coups, the wars with India, and the tragic partition of 1947, one thread has remained in the background: the civil bureaucracy that actually kept the state functioning. This episode traces the rise of the Rana family, starting with Sir Muhammad Zafarullah Khan and moving through the powerful administrative dynasties of the mid-twentieth century. We look at how figures like Chaudhry Muhammad Ali and Iskander Mirza navigated the fragile early years of the state, building the institutions that outlasted their political masters. From the Objectives Resolution to the Basic Democracies, we explore how a small circle of lawyers and administrators shaped Pakistan’s legal and political identity against the backdrop of Ayub Khan’s martial law and the subsequent democratic struggles. #PakistanHistory #RanaFamily #SirZafarullahKhan #ChaudhryMuhammadAli #IskanderMirza #AyubKhan #BasicDemocracies #ObjectivesResolution #CivilService #PakistanBureaucracy #SouthAsiaHistory #LiaquatAliKhan #LegislativeAssembly #GhulamMohammad #FerozKhanNoon #MuslimLeague #HistoryPodcast #FexingoHistory Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
