South Africa's AI Crisis Is Actually the Biggest Opportunity of Our Generation

Deskripsi

South Africa has one of the highest youth unemployment rates in the world. AI is making entry-level jobs disappear faster than anywhere else on Earth. And right in the middle of that pressure, we have the biggest opportunity we will ever see in our lifetime. The question is whether we will recognise it in time. In this video I break down what is actually happening to the SA job market right now, why AI is making the gap worse, and the specific skills young South Africans need to learn in the next 3 to 6 months to make sure they are on the right side of this shift. What you'll get: • The real numbers behind SA's youth unemployment and the AI entry-level job collapse • Why the skills gap was already a crisis before AI - and why AI made it worse • How AI is making rich companies richer while leaving young Africans behind • The Japanese reframe on crisis that changes how to think about this moment • The 50% AI wage premium - and why companies are dropping degree requirements for AI skills • The exact AI tools to learn in 3 to 6 months to become hireable - without a Computer Science degree • Where to start for free, and when it makes sense to invest in proper training Chapters: • 0:00 The collision happening right now • 0:30 The numbers - 30% unemployment, 60% youth, 35% global entry-level drop • 1:15 Why AI is making the rich richer and young Africans poorer • 1:30 The Japanese reframe - crisis means opportunity • 1:50 The 50% AI wage premium • 2:20 What young South Africans should actually do • 2:45 The AI tools and skills to learn • 3:15 Where to start - free and paid paths About Larreth Larreth Jimu is the Founder & CEO of Melsoft Academy, a South African tech training academy that places graduates into developer, AI, and cybersecurity roles.
