Deskripsi

What if the limits holding you back aren't actually coming from anyone else?Growing up, Louisa Raj loved art. But her brother was the one everyone called talented. When her mother called him “the artist of the family,” Louisa formed a belief:Maybe art wasn't her path.So she followed another one.Good grades. University. Corporate career. Steady salary. Her ambition was to become a COO.Until she discovered painting, a new world opened up.In Tradition & Heritage: Compass or Shackle, Singaporean realism artist Louisa Raj sits down with Lim Pei Ying, ICF Master Certified Coach and Producer of the Clean Your Toilet Podcast, to explore the stories we inherit, limits we create, and lives we choose.Louisa paints ordinary things: rice packets, condensed milk, mahjong, familiar rooms and uncovers the memories they hold.A Milkmaid can takes her back to Channel 8 dramas and Milo before bedtime. Becoming an artist meant redefining those values. She refused to romanticize “quit your job and follow your dreams.” She built demand first. She wanted passion but not the life of a starving artist. When she told her parents she had left her job, the reaction she feared never came. Her mother told her:“I'm very proud of you.”Some limits Louisa thought came from her upbringing were ones she had placed on herself.Together, they explore:- How childhood comments shape what we believe.- Why Louisa believed she wasn't “the artist”.- Leaving corporate life without romanticizing passion.- How ordinary objects hold memory and love.- How Asian families express love without words.- Inherited expectations vs self-imposed limits.- Questioning the life we thought we had to live.At the heart of Louisa's journey is a simple realization:There
