Reclaiming Real Connection: The Rise of The Offline Club Lisboa

Deskripsi

In this episode of Podcast Portugal, we speak with The Offline Club Lisboa, the Lisbon chapter of a growing global movement encouraging people to swap screen time for real time. Founded on the belief that constant digital connection is quietly eroding real human interaction, The Offline Club creates phone-free spaces where presence, creativity and genuine connection take priority.Originating in Amsterdam and now thriving in Lisbon under the guidance of organisers Joëlle Hartog and Lilly Parla, The Offline Club Lisboa hosts offline social hangouts, creative sessions, board games, drink-and-chat evenings and digital detox challenges. Each event invites participants to disconnect from their devices — often using a playful “phone hotel” — and reconnect with themselves and others in meaningful, distraction-free environments. In this conversation, we explore the cultural pushback against digital overload, the psychology behind phone-free experiences, and why creating modern “third places” for offline connection may be more important than ever. We also discuss the balance between online convenience and real-world presence, and what participants consistently take away from choosing to be offline together.Whether you’re curious about digital wellbeing, community building, or simply craving deeper human connection in an always-online world, this episode offers thoughtful insights and practical inspiration.👉 Follow and discover upcoming events with The Offline Club Lisboa on Instagram:https://www.instagram.com/theofflineclublisbon/To book flexible dates surf coaching sessions, to find out about immersive surf training camps, online video analysis program and special JWC rates for using SurfREC, head to justinwestcoaching.comRevolut Personal click this link Revolut Business referral link Travel smarter, stay connected — download Airalo SIM cards before your next adventure.
