Inside Iran's New Strategy to Counter Trump's Attack | Trita Parsi

Deskripsi

A deal to end the Iran war may be closer than ever — or it may be about to collapse entirely. This week, Rubio called it "slight progress." Iran said no deal has been reached. And in the background, Tehran quietly launched a "Persian Gulf Strait Authority" to charge tolls on ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz — the waterway that carries roughly 20% of the world's oil and LNG, where shipping has virtually halted since the US and Israel launched strikes on 28 February. I sat down with Trita Parsi to break down exactly where things stand after one of the most consequential weeks of the conflict so far. We discuss the dual blockade dynamic: Iran's closure since 28 February and the US naval blockade of Iranian ports since 13 April, and what it means that neither side has blinked. We go deep on the enriched uranium stalemate, the 14-point MOU, and whether the internal divisions inside Tehran leave anyone with the authority to actually sign something.
