India: all roads lead to Benares "Deadliest Roads"

Deskripsi

This documentary follows the arduous journeys of various individuals toward Benares, India's holiest city situated on the banks of the Ganges. Through the intersecting lives of coal truck drivers, wood transporters supplying funeral pyres, and pilgrims traveling from afar, the film explores the universal quest for spiritual purification. As they navigate treacherous roads and extreme poverty, these individuals are driven by the hope that the Ganges will wash away their despairs and grant them a better future or, in death, direct passage to paradise. Ultimately, the film offers a poignant portrait of life, death, and the enduring cycle of reincarnation.
