I’ve long had a question: why is it that in China’s embodied AI industry, I have yet to meet someone with the kind of intense technological romanticism embodied by figures like Liang Wenfeng or Yang Zhilin? At times, that has left me feeling a little disappointed. Then I met Gao Jiyang. He seems almost like the opposite of a tech romantic — relentlessly pursuing efficiency, survival, and rigorous engineering decomposition. At the time of this interview, GALAXEA’s co-founder Xu Huazhe was about to depart. Perhaps that, too, is a signal of something.
