Post-mortem reports revealed 44 injury marks, including severe internal bleeding and blunt force trauma, making it clear this wasn’t just a death — it was systematic custodial violence.The case gained national attention when a disturbing video of Ajith being beaten by police officers surfaced online. Public outrage erupted across Tamil Nadu, especially in Sivaganga and Madurai. The Madurai Bench of Madras High Court stepped in, confirming it as a case of custodial death and ordered a CBI investigation. Five police officers were arrested, including DSP N. Shanmugasundaram. Sivaganga SP Ashish Rawat was sent on compulsory wait. Six officers were suspended.
