DoST Secretary urges water conservation as strong El Niño looms

Deskripsi

Department of Science and Technology (DoST) Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. urged the public to implement water-saving measures amid the looming El Niño phenomenon, which may begin as early as this month. “So, we see that as the year progresses, we will experience the effects of reduced rainfall starting October, when we expect below-normal rainfall,” Mr. Solidum told BusinessWorld during a ceremonial disposal of a worn-out Philippine flag on Tuesday. He added that by November, more provinces may experience below-normal rainfall, or less than 40% of average rainfall. However, its effects may not be immediately felt in the third quarter of the year due to the habagat, or southwest monsoon. “So we need to make sure that we manage water now so that we will have a supply of water for drinking,” Mr. Solidum said. | via Edg Adrian Eva Full story: https://www.bworldonline.com/the-nation/2026/05/26/752131/dost-urges-water-conservation-as-strong-el-nino-looms/ #ElNiño #SaveWater #DoST —— Connect with BusinessWorld! https://www.bworldonline.com/ https://bworld-x.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCpx8fh6GoIfNxQDrOS1Ihgg https://www.facebook.com/BWorldPH/ https://www.instagram.com/bworldph/ https://www.linkedin.com/company/businessworldph/ https://x.com/bworldph https://www.threads.net/@bworldph https://www.tiktok.com/@businessworldph?is_from_webapp=1&sender_device=pc https://bsky.app/profile/bworldph.bsky.social https://open.spotify.com/show/4fDeeUPNI3AVdAh9qO3Kbt?si=fcfe29f161424548 https://invite.viber.com/?g2=AQAuGEv6URlPYEzhaS7X5bPrUeQBAfshJ2r5HC%2Fp3yrOY5v0cDhpP17MkiOHjMsa #BWorldPH #BusinessWorldPH
