Crisis in the Democratic Republic of Congo| It Matters Podcast| DRC series

Deskripsi

The Democratic Republic of Congo is a mineral-rich nation, but for the past several years this mineral-rich paradise has been facing atrocities from several rebel groups, which date back to the independence of the country from The Belgians. According to a plethora of experts and organisations the crisis in Democratic Republic of Congo is one of the world's most neglected crisis. It is not covered immensely on the mainstream media thereby, It Matters took the responsibility to spread the voice of the Congolese people. The rebel groups present in DRC are over there for extraction of the minerals to add wealth to their organisations, history shows how these rebel groups have maintained good control and dominance over the locals and in the mineral-rich regions of DRC. The Democratic Republic of Congo is not a small country, it is the second largest country in Africa thereby which makes it difficult for the government as well as the peacekeeping forces to maintain peace in the country, especially in its eastern provinces like Goma, Ituri, North and South Kivu. The Congolese people have been facing atrocities of such rebel groups in the country from past many years now, which needs a settlement in this modern era.
