The Ship of State: Book Two: A Young President Seeks Reforms and Finds Love

For a short time after his divorce, Donald Burlington was not only the President of the United States, but also the most eligible bachelor in the world, not a title he wanted to keep.At a much-needed weekend retreat at Camp David, things heat up between him and his trusted assistant, Nicole, even though they both know their relationship is a potential weakness and political nightmare for the administration. They hope to be able to hide their budding relationship from the White House staff, the media, and the American public—but will they be exposed and eaten alive?Back in DC, President Burlington attempts to gather a bipartisan group of lawmakers disgruntled with their parties’ leadership to negotiate critical reforms in the way Congress operates and how legislation is written and passed, along with significant and much-needed election reform. In order to have even a chance at succeeding, the president will have to utilize all of his already-strained political connections as well as stake his re-election on guiding his reforms through a reluctant Congress that will help decide the fate of the nation going forward.Realistic and believable political fiction at its finest. Featuring strong but flawed characters and politicians that deal with real issues facing us today by providing conservative solutions that would really work. If you enjoyed the movie, The American President or the hit TV series, The West Wing, you'll love The Ship of State.*Note: The original title, Escape from Serfdom, was published in 2014, well before Donald Trump hit the national political stage, and has been "bigly" revised and expanded into books one and two of The Ship of State series.Read more
