Home Flexible: Stories from Life as a Nomadic Traveling House Sitter

Frustrated after a failed attempt at full-time RV living, Brooke and her husband Buddy decided to try out being traveling house sitters as a last-ditch effort to pursue their dream of a nomadic lifestyle. Three years, 30 countries, and dozens of furry friends later, this book is a funny and entertaining collection of their best pet and house sitting stories, that fans of the sarcastic style of humor in Bill Bryson'sA Walk in the Woodswill enjoy! If you’ve ever wonderedwhat does a house sitter do?,Brooke openly shares first-hand accounts and insights into the realities of traveling full-time through long-term house sitting. These hilarious, inspiring, and unexpected stories offer an authentic look into an unconventional lifestyle of adventure travel, pet shenanigans, and constantly expanded comfort zones. This book is not a guide to house sitting or budget travel, it is an opportunity to be transported to other places, cultures, and ways of life through compelling storytelling and imagery. Learn what it’s like to retire in rural Spain, uncover hidden gems on the islands of Hawaii, brave the arctic cold during a dark winter in Iceland, encounter a bear while walking a dog in the Colorado wilderness, and so much more!Although they may look like “travel couple goals” to their friends, this adventurous pair had their fair share of struggles as they traveled internationally by pet sitting; however, the personal growth and improved perspective of the world that they gained was worth every stressful moment. These short, but impactful stories of the kindness of strangers, finding peace in nature, and daring to dream big may even inspire you to see the world in a slightly more hopeful hue.Read more
