The 1948 Junagadh Gambit: A Princely State's Forgotten War

विवरण

In this episode, Lucas and Luna uncover the story of Junagadh, a small princely state on the Arabian Sea whose ruler's decision to accede to Pakistan in 1947 set off a crisis that nearly sparked an Indo-Pakistani war. They explore the tangled politics of partition, the role of the nawab, Sir Shah Nawaz Bhutto, and the Indian military's 'police action' that annexed the state. The conversation weaves in the broader context of over 500 princely states, the instruments of accession, and the lasting shadow this episode cast on Kashmir and the subcontinent's unresolved borders. #Junagadh #PrincelyStates #PartitionOfIndia #NawabOfJunagadh #ShahNawazBhutto #OperationPolo #InstrumentOfAccession #KashmirConflict #SouthAsianHistory #1947 #Mountbatten #Jinnah #IndianUnion #ArabianSea #BritishRaj #History #FexingoHistory #Decolonization Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
