Ishq Da Imtihaan is an original Punjabi Sufi Qawwali built around the idea that true Ishq is not simply longing for the Beloved it is the journey of surrendering the ego and losing oneself in that love. The song begins with a slow, contemplative alaap, introducing the central thought: “Ishq da imtihaan, ishq da imtihaan… Jis ne deya, so paar gaya…” The journey then moves through waiting, separation and the restless search for the hidden Beloved.
