Fiddling for Freedom

Fiddling for Freedomis inspired by African American slave and pioneer, Louis Southworth, who traveled the Oregon Trail as a young man in the early 1850s. He was able to make almost $1,000 playing the violin -- approximately $23,000 today. That was enough money for Louis to pay off his owner and buy his own freedom from slavery.Read more
