Zulfikar Bhutto and the Birth of Pakistan's Constitution

Description

In this episode, we step away from the battlefield and into the marble halls of West Pakistan’s Constituent Assembly in the early 1970s. We explore how Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, once a reluctant opposition figure, became the architect of Pakistan’s 1973 Constitution. We examine his political maneuvering against General Zia-ul-Haq and the military establishment, the contentious debates over federalism versus provincial rights, and the ideological compromise that blended Islamic provisions with parliamentary democracy. This conversation looks at the specific clauses that defined state power, the role of the judiciary, and why this document remains the only constitution to survive a transition between civilian and military rule, despite the turbulent decades that followed its ratification. #ZulfikarBhutto #PakistanConstitution #1973Constitution #WestPakistan #ConstituentAssembly #IslamicRepublic #ParliamentaryDemocracy #GeneralZiaulHaq #Federalism #ProvincialRights #SouthAsianHistory #PoliticalStruggle #PostPartition #MilitaryRule #CivilianGovernment #IslamabadPolitics #History #FexingoHistory Keep every episode free: buymeacoffee.com/fexingo
