The Torah, Bible and Quran are connected with Mariana Tavares

Description

In this episode of One in Tribe, host Julie Fidalgo engages with Mariana Tavares, a Portuguese-born Muslim revert, to explore the connections between Islam and Christianity. They discuss the role of Jesus in Islam, the continuity of religious revelations from the Torah to the Quran, and how Jesus' teachings aimed to clarify Jewish law. Mariana explains the impact of Hellenistic culture on the perception of Jesus and the subsequent need for the Quran to reaffirm monotheism. The conversation also touches on the challenges faced by early Muslims in a polytheistic society and the transformative messages of equality and humanity in Islam. Takeaways 🌟 Muslims view Jesus as a prophet and the Messiah. 🌟 The Quran is seen as a continuation of previous revelations. 🌟 Jesus aimed to clarify Jewish teachings rather than create a new religion. 🌟 Hellenistic culture influenced the perception of Jesus as divine. 🌟 The Quran emphasizes strict monotheism, rejecting the concept of the Trinity. 🌟 Muhammad's teachings challenged societal norms, including slavery. 🌟 Early Muslims faced persecution for their beliefs. 🌟 Islam promotes equality among all people, regardless of race. 🌟 The message of Islam was revolutionary in its context. 🌟 Interfaith dialogue is essential for understanding religious beliefs.
