The Hidden History of the Philippines They Never Taught You in School —Empire That Was Almost Erased

Description

Long before European ships reached the shores of the Philippines, powerful kingdoms were already rising across the archipelago. They traded with great civilizations. They minted and wore gold. They governed complex societies with laws, diplomacy, and culture. Among the most powerful of these forgotten polities was the Kingdom of Tondo — a thriving maritime kingdom located at the mouth of the Pasig River. For centuries, Tondo maintained trade relationships with powerful empires like the Song Dynasty of China. Historical records such as the Laguna Copperplate Inscription prove that pre-colonial Filipinos had a written language, legal systems, and international diplomacy as early as 900 AD. This video explores the forgotten story of Tondo — a kingdom that ruled northern Luzon long before the city of Manila existed. History did not begin with colonization. And the story of the Filipino people did not begin with discovery. This is the history that was almost erased.
