Description
Rab Di Marzi is a deeply emotional Punjabi Sufi-folk ballad about heartbreak, disappointment, loneliness, acceptance and finding refuge in Allah/Rab when the world no longer feels close. The song begins with a quiet remembrance: “Jo guzri si… oh vi Rab di marzi si.” From there, the story moves through relationships that looked close but felt distant, people who promised companionship but eventually walked away, and the painful realization that not everyone we love is meant to stay. At the heart of the song is a spiritual shift: the pain itself becomes a road back to Rab. When the world becomes silent, the seeker turns toward the Divine: “Jithe duniya muk jaandi ae, Othon rehmat chaldi ae.” The soft female lead carries the song with a sweet, slightly husky emotional texture, allowing the sadness to live in pauses, sustained notes and delicate vocal bends rather than dramatic shouting. The male voice appears only in selected response lines, almost like a distant inner voice answering her pain. Musically, Rab Di Marzi follows a gentle Punjabi Sufi-folk 6/8 sway, beginning with intimate harmonium and tanpura before gradually opening into dholak, tabla, daf, sarangi, algoza, bansuri and restrained handclaps. The arrangement grows slowly and organically before returning to a fragile, fading ending with “Maula…” This is a song for anyone who has learned that some losses are not the end of the journey sometimes they become the reason we turn back toward the One who was always there.
