Kate Henshaw on How Women Have Moved the Needle in Nollywood

Description

33 years in — and Kate Henshaw is still setting the standard. As part of Culture Custodian's Cinematic Vanguards campaign, we sit down with one of Nollywood's most enduring forces — actor, author, and cultural icon, Kate Henshaw — to celebrate a career that has never stopped reaching. From her early breakthrough to unforgettable performances in Blood Sisters, Stronger Than Pain, and 4th Republic, Henshaw has spent three decades proving that versatility, integrity, and craft are foundational. In this intimate conversation, she takes us back to the beginning — including what it meant to fall in love with one of her earliest and most unexpected roles — and opens up about breaking stereotypes, choosing complexity over comfort, and why the women of Nollywood are its architects. This is a conversation about legacy, courage, and what it looks like to still be standing — and still be growing — after 33 years. Cinematic Vanguards is proudly supported by Frutta, M.O.T The Label, and BMProMakeUp.
