Description
Jind Meri Qurbaan is a traditional Punjabi Sufi Qawwali about complete surrender to Ishq a spiritual journey where the seeker leaves behind the ego, follows the path of the Murshid, and eventually discovers that the Beloved is everywhere. The song opens with the powerful Sufi metaphor: “Ishq da darya… Jo is wich dubya, so paar gaya.” The river of Ishq is not something to cross from a distance. The seeker must enter it, surrender to it, and lose the illusion of the separate self. The verses draw upon timeless Punjabi Sufi imagery Ranjha, Heer, Sohni, Mahiwal, Laila and Majnoon, Sassi and Punnu transforming legendary lovers into symbols of spiritual longing and devotion. The journey begins with the seeker becoming a jogi: “Murshid di main baat manni, Nafs nu main agg launi.” The path is one of discipline, surrender and the burning away of the nafs. At the center of the Qawwali is the powerful refrain: “Jind meri qurbaan, Tere ishq de naam.” As the music develops, the distinction between lover and Beloved begins to disappear: “Main nahin, tu hi tu.” The call-and-response section takes this realization further: “Aape Ranjha hoi aan.” “Tu hi Heer, tu hi Ranjha.” “Tu hi murshid, tu hi murid.” The song ultimately arrives at the classic Sufi paradox of losing oneself to find everything: “Ishq de vich haar ke jeetna, Jis ne apna aap gawaya, Us ne sabh kuch paaya.” Musically, Jind Meri Qurbaan follows the traditional Qawwali progression a slow, expressive alaap gradually develops into an increasingly powerful 8-beat Keherwa groove, with harmonium, tabla, dholak, tanpura, manjira and handclaps driving the final ecstatic section. The deep male lead carries the Kalam with powerful melismatic phrasing, while the male Qawwali chorus answers in unison and octave harmonies, creating the atmosphere of a traditional dargah mehfil. No electronic sounds. No modern pop drums. Just Ishq, Qawwali, surrender and zikr. 🎧 Best experienced with headphones or in a quiet listening space. 🎼 SONG CREDITS: Song: Jind Meri Qurbaan G
