Iran pushes back against the US plan to ‘guide’ ships through the Strait of Hormuz

Description

Over two months into the war, Washington and Tehran remain locked in a stalemate, with no end in sight. Over the weekend, the US president dismissed Iran’s latest 14-point peace plan, warning that Washington could restart strikes if Tehran ‘misbehaves’. Meanwhile, a US plan to ‘guide’ stranded commercial ships through the Strait of Hormuz, which came into effect on Monday, has drawn pushback from Iran. A US warship was reportedly targeted by two Iranian missiles as it attempted to enter the key waterway. With diplomacy stalled and neither side willing to compromise, how long can the fragile ceasefire hold?
