Gaza clinic treats burns with 3D mask technology

A clinic in Gaza is treating burns patients using 3D-printed physiotherapy face masks that help prevent permanent scarring and future complications. “The aim is to provide the pressure therapy by using the 3D technology to design the orthosis of the patients,” explains Mohammad al-Qatrawi, physiotherapy supervisor at MSF. Al-Qatrawi says the clinic, the only one in Gaza to provide such treatment, has faced shortages of resources and materials since Israel banned MSF and 37 other NGOs from working in Palestine last December. Since Israel launched its genocidal war on Gaza, an estimated 10,750 children have suffered life-altering injuries, including amputations, severe burns, and spinal and brain injuries.
