Tomorrow's Business Ethics: Philip K. Dick vs. W. Edwards Deming

Many of Philip K. Dick’s books and short stories seem like hallucinations, leading us to distant future scenarios or into surreal parallel worlds. On a second look, we discover that these social and technical developments are emerging, if they do not already exist.Dick’s philosophy is in harmony with W. Edwards Deming’sSystemofProfound Knowledge. Both ideas jointly together show important ways to prevent a dystopia and to use the new technologies, such as industry 4.0, artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital twins, chatbots, augmented reality, cobots, robotics, cloud, autonomous cars, smart data, digital transformation, etc., to humanize the corporate world, including a focus on ethics, compliance, and sustainability. The COVID-19 pandemic acted as a disruptor and, in most cases, intensified the already existing currents. Action is required! An entertaining trip into the present and future, ideal for management, but also for other key functions such as ethics, human resources, strategy, IT, governance, risk, compliance, sustainability, including their holistic concepts such as GRC or ESG.Read more
