The Hill Country Horse Whisperer: Seven Days to Save a Horse

The horse knows something but not telling....Sofi Reyes has seven days to prove that Rey Bravo, an Andalusian stallion who shattered a handler's arm, is manageable before he is destroyed. But when the horse has a mysterious panic attack, it is traced to a hollow wall.Sofi and her husband, Hitch, begin unearthing a violent land fraud dating back to the 1700s. The deeper they dig, the more desperate the enemy becomes, moving from legal threats to criminal acts, culminating in the sabotage of the horse’s feed and the framing of Hitch. The deadline collapses, giving Sofi mere hours to prepare the traumatized animal. When the saboteurs resort toarson during a flash flood, Sofi must rely entirely on the fragile trust she has built. Plunging into the burning side of the building, she anchors the terrified stallion with her "four in, four out" breathing pattern and rides him bareback through the storm to confront the criminals. But the final test—proving the horse’s compliance to the insurer—must be performed not in the ruined barn, but in the one place the horse associates with safety:the small, ancient chapel where the victim’s name is carved into the altar. Will Sofi’s quiet system triumph over fire, water, and centuries of lies?Read more
