The Frog No More: A Zany Observation Of Sober Life

Behold the final saga in the chronicles of a gay alcoholic's quest for enlightenment, recounting twenty-six years and culminating in the wisdom and gratitude he achieved during those tumultuous decades.Charlie Gray concludes his tale of recovery from addiction and embracing his identity by exploring where it all began and journeying back to the summer of 1996, age ten, on Truman Lake at his family’s quaint fishing resort. A brief glimpse of Charlie’s idyllic childhood unfolds before it is abruptly brought to an end by the untimely death of his mother shortly after his thirteenth birthday. As he attempts to grapple with the grief of losing his mom, the fear of his burgeoning sexuality, and his confusion regarding religion, a distinct pattern emerges, one heavily involving alcohol as a means of escape.Traveling the globe in an intoxicated and foggy glow, Charlie candidly details the highs and lows of his substance use disorder, depicting a grim and tormenting existence from which he rises victorious with the aid of his fellow alcoholics and addicts, a gifted and empathetic therapist, and his family and friends. He closesCharlie & The Frog, the chronicles of his terrifying and volatile dance with addiction and self-discovery, by explaining his current belief system and sobriety routine, aiming to fortify those struck by the plight of addiction with renewed hope of finding peace from the brutality of an addictive lifestyle. His message is clear and simple: you are not alone, you are not wrong, andyou can recover.Read more
