The Fire That Once Was: A Revival Classic

“The fire must be kept burning on the altar continually, it must not be extinguished” (Leviticus 6:13). John Wesley was asked how thousands fall on their faces and cry out in repentance when he preaches. He responded, “I just set myself on fire and they come to watch me burn.” Throughout church history, God has raised up “flames of fire” to stir hearts and turn the world upside down. Count Zinzendorf, Jonathan Edwards, Charles Finney, Evan Roberts, William Seymour, Smith Wigglesworth, Kathryn Kuhlman, and countless others fanned the sparks of revival and revolutionized history. The Fire That Once Was chronicles the stories of world-changing revival leaders in sixty brief, engaging chapters. You will travail with these heroes in their dark night of the soul and encounter the joy of Christ’s transforming grace. It is time to let the old stories reawaken your faith. Frank Di Pietro, before becoming an independent researcher and author, spent decades in radio broadcasting. He is widely recognized for his devoted prayer life and zeal for revival. DiPietro, and his wife Melissa, moved to Kansas City to be near family and be a part of a global revival movement.Read more
