The Body Departed

James Blakely is dead. Murdered in his sleep, he never made it to the other side—and he's pretty sure it's because he’s damned. Now a ghost, James haunts the apartment building where he died, slipping through walls to watch over his sleeping daughter, bantering with the foul-mouthed psychic who’s his only friend, and searching for the redemption that always seems out of reach. When his beloved childhood piano teacher is found murdered, James knows one thing: he may be dead, but he's not done. Determined to solve her killing, he faces all the usual challenges of detective work—plus a few ghostly ones, like being bound to the building, slowly losing his memories, and drawing energy from the living just to manifest. As James investigates the living and the dead, he confronts old regrets, unfinished business, and the chilling truth of his own violent death. Because before he can save anyone else, he may have to save himself.Wry, haunting, and unexpectedly heartwarming,The Body Departedis a supernatural mystery about love after loss, justice after death, and what it means to be truly redeemed. Perfect for fans ofThe Sixth Sense,The Lovely Bones, and ghost stories with brains, heart, and bite.WHAT READERS ARE SAYING:★★★★★ “I found this book to be fast-moving, the main character, James, multifaceted. You learn about his life, the way he loved his daughter, tried to be a good husband, a good man, but realized he was flawed. Now in death he is trying to be a better person so he might have an opportunity at a second chance at Heaven. He has help from a psychic friend and ends up befriending the spirit of a lost little boy. Yes, the ending is truly touching.” —Amazon review★★★★★ “I am a HUGE fan of J.R. Rain. Have read a lot of his books, and they are all excellent. ButThe Body Departeddid something different. It captured my heart and soul.” —Amazon review★★★★★ “If I had to just sum this book up with one sentence then I’d saythis book was beautiful. It’s extremely thought provoking and imaginative and will make you think. Ever
