Onora Tua Madre: Living Through Physical and Verbal Abuse

"Onora tua Madre," an evocative Italian phrase meaning "Honor thy Mother," beautifully encapsulates the essence of resilience and indomitable strength. The author reflects on his formative years, revealing how the profound domestic and verbal abuse his mother endured profoundly shaped his worldview. He recounts the powerful tale of his mother, Celestina—a spirited young Italian woman who, against all odds, triumphed over a lifetime steeped in hardship after arriving in this foreign land.Moved by the "code of silence" that cloaked his family's suffering, the author bravely confronts the often-overlooked realities of physical and verbal abuse. Through his poignant writing, David Bogart endeavors to illuminate the dark corners of domestic violence, aspiring to resonate with and uplift those who navigate similar challenges. His narrative serves as both a testament to his mother's unyielding spirit and a beacon of hope for others seeking solace and strength amidst adversity.Read more
