Leggings are not pants: ...and other falsehoods

Love it, hate it, ignore it...athleisure isn't just a fashion trend. It represents a shift in how more women are choosing to dress — for themselves. Between 2011 and 2016, the activewear market grew almost seven times as fast as the overall apparel market, representing a third of the entire clothing market. Despite the backlash that women experienced for wearing their yoga pants out in public, and repeated declarations that athleisure would fade, women continue wearing athletic clothing, casually. So, what's going on? Women's fashion isn't being dictated to women, it's being dictated by women. In Leggings are not pants...and other falsehoods, author Jeanette Keene debunks several falsehoods. In this book, you will gain insights on: * How the increase in women's sports participation has influenced changes in women's clothing beyond sports * How women's decisions to wear clothes that provide more comfort and freedom represent a movement associated with lifestyle changes and redefining gender roles * How female-focused designs have led more women to wear clothes that are as functional as they are fashionable throughout the day * And More! This book is for everyone from athletes to entrepreneurs and especially for those interested in learning how women are taking a more active role in fashion today...from founding their own brands to choosing sneakers over heels.Read more
