In the Churchyard Spilled: Book One of the Llangynog Murders

The mystical Britain sites list the Welsh village of Llangynog as a “thin place,” a place where the lines between worlds can be crossed, at least by those whose minds are open to such things. Bronwyn Bagley is one of those people, although she wants desperately not to be. Aware that she is different from others, she longs for a normal life, a life with a career and – someday – a relationship with someone who won’t see her as an oddity. Thus, she waits and hopes, while guarding her secrets closely. Detective Chief Inspector Will Cooper has suffered an unwilling transfer to the North Wales major crimes unit. Paired with a partner he can barely tolerate and a past that overwhelms him with guilt, he struggles to fit into a new career that he fears will never be as fulfilling as what he’d had before. When Bronwyn becomes the main suspect in a churchyard murder near Llangynog, she decides that she must use her otherworldly sources to clear herself. Will, drawn to her despite mistrusting both her motives and the information she provides, ignores department policy to work with her behind his partner’s back, knowing that the consequences that follow will neither gain him the respect of his new colleagues nor solidify his position in the department. Danger lurks in the villages and pastoral backwoods of the Welsh countryside as they work together to interpret the clues Bronwyn receives, and in the end, neither of them is sure of Bronwyn’s innocence.Read more
