What Does African Luxury Look Like: Maison Amahle - The World’s First Afro-Swiss Luxury Watch House

Paglalarawan

In this episode, Nat is joined by Nigel Ndlovu, founder of Maison Amahle, the world’s first Afro-Swiss luxury watch house. Nigel shares the remarkable journey behind building a luxury brand rooted in African heritage, faith, craftsmanship, and intentional living. From growing up in Botswana to pursuing a dream in Switzerland, Nigel reflects on the early moments that sparked his fascination with watches, including a school prize that quietly planted the seed for what would later become Maison Amahle. The conversation explores the artistry and engineering behind luxury watchmaking, the emotional power of mechanical watches, and the years of precision, patience, and storytelling required to bring a timepiece to life. Nigel also explains how African identity and symbolism are intentionally woven into Maison Amahle’s designs, from the inspiration behind the brand’s name to details shaped to reflect elephant tusks, honouring strength, heritage, and beauty. Nat and Nigel also discuss migration, family legacy, faith, entrepreneurship, luxury culture, and what it means to build something meaningful in a world obsessed with speed and hustle. Plus: Switzerland, Black identity abroad, craftsmanship, Black Coffee, Apple Watches at formal events, and why time might be one of the most spiritual things we experience. A thoughtful conversation about purpose, precision, and building legacy across continents.
