Tarkwa Belongs to Ghana: The Argument Growing Across the Country

Paglalarawan

Across Ghana, a growing number of citizens, activists, and policy commentators are arguing that Tarkwa’s mineral wealth should deliver greater benefits to the nation and local communities. At the center of the debate is the question of ownership, resource control, and how the proceeds from gold mining are shared. Supporters of this view believe Ghana must reassess long-standing mining arrangements to ensure that more value remains within the country for infrastructure, jobs, education, healthcare, and economic development. As discussions around mining leases and national interests intensify, the call that “Tarkwa Belongs to Ghana” is becoming a powerful rallying point in the broader conversation about the future of Ghana’s natural resources.
