The Democratic Republic of Congo is a mineral-rich nation, but for the past several years this mineral-rich paradise has been facing atrocities from several rebel groups, which date back to the independence of the country from The Belgians. Recently a rebel group named ADF has shown its presence in the country by indulging in a plethora of inhuman activities. In late 2018 ADF established its ties with Daesh or ISIS (Islamic State of Iraq and Syria) since then it has gained a lot of publicity and media coverage thereby, making its name on the list of one of the significant rebel organisations that operate in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Originally ADF is an organisation against the Ugandan government but it operates from the DRC, the question arises why? DRC’s large land mass is the answer to it, which gives an advantage to such rebel groups to take shelter in the country. To show its presence in the media and to the world unfortunately the Congolese are the ones who have to undergo killings and rapes by the organisation. These rebel groups operate in DRC for extraction of the minerals to add wealth to their organisations, history shows how these rebel groups have maintained good control and dominance over the locals and in the mineral-rich regions of DRC. The Democratic Republic of Congo is not a small country, it is the second largest country in Africa thereby which makes it difficult for the government as well as the peacekeeping forces to maintain peace in the country, especially in its eastern provinces like Goma, Ituri, North and South Kivu. The Congolese people have been facing atrocities of such rebel groups in the country from past many years now, which needs a settlement in this modern era.
