Join us this Ramadan at Unity Islamic Center of Morton Grove for a powerful and transformative Ramadan miniseries with Ubaydullah Evans. In this special series of Ramadan reminders, Shaykh Ubaydullah Evans takes us deep into the heart of fasting by exploring Surah Al-Baqarah, ayahs 183–187 — the foundational verses that lay out the divine prescription, purpose, and spiritual psychology of Ramadan. 🌙 What to Expect in This Series: 📖 Ayah 183 – The Obligation & Purpose of Fasting “Fasting has been prescribed for you…” We explore the meaning of taqwa, why fasting was prescribed for previous nations, and how Ramadan is meant to transform—not just restrict—us. 📖 Ayah 184 – Mercy Within the Law Understanding concessions in fasting, fidyah, and the balance between discipline and compassion in Islamic law. 📖 Ayah 185 – The Month of the Qur’an Why Ramadan is uniquely connected to revelation. Reflections on guidance (huda), clarity (bayyinat), and criterion (furqan), and how to build a deeper relationship with the Qur’an this month. 📖 Ayah 186 – Allah’s Nearness “And when My servants ask you concerning Me…” A powerful discussion on du‘a, divine proximity, and how Ramadan opens the door to intimate conversation with Allah ﷻ. 📖 Ayah 187 – Boundaries, Intimacy & Spiritual Discipline Clarifying the rulings of fasting from dawn to sunset, the symbolism of garments, and what it means to honor sacred limits (hudud Allah).
