IWI Fireside Chat: Dr. Kristi Raik Europe's Strategic Crossroads and Irregular Threats

Paglalarawan

In this Fireside Chat, Dr Kristi Raik—Director of the Estonian Foreign Policy Institute at ICDS—joins us for a frank discussion on Europe’s strategic posture in the face of war, instability, and irregular threats. Hosted by the Irregular Warfare Initiative’s Project Europe, this conversation dissects Europe’s dependency on U.S. security guarantees, the ambiguous prospects of “strategic autonomy,” and what Ukraine’s defence struggle reveals about the limits of European solidarity. We examine: — How Russia’s war reshapes Europe’s assumptions about deterrence and defence. — The role of irregular and grey-zone threats confronting European democracies. — The gaps between rhetoric and reality in EU foreign and security policy. — What must change for Europe to become a credible security actor. Dr Raik brings sharp insight and policy experience to bear in this timely and unfiltered exchange. 🎙 Guest: Dr Kristi Raik – Director, Estonian Foreign Policy Institute, ICDS 🎙 Host: Armenak Ohanesian – Engagements Deputy Director, Irregular Warfare Initiative 🔔 Subscribe for more discussions on strategy, conflict, and irregular warfare. #Ukraine #Europe #StrategicAutonomy #NATO #IrregularWarfare #Security #IWI #IWIProjectEurope #IWIFSC
