Gisèle Pelicot Opens Up About Surviving Years of Secret Abuse | The Interview

In one of the most heinous sexual-abuse stories in history, Gisèle Pelicot was drugged and raped repeatedly by the person she trusted most in the world, her husband, who also invited dozens of men into their bedroom to rape her while she was heavily sedated. In 2024, a trial of Pelicot’s abusers began. Even then, we might never have known her name. But in her new memoir, “A Hymn to Life: Shame Has to Change Sides,” she explains why she decided to forgo anonymity and make the trial public. That choice made her a feminist icon, inspiring women all over France to rally around her and to demand change to France’s consent laws. Pelicot reveals what it was like seeing her abusers day after day in court with “The Interview” host Lulu Garcia-Navarro.
