The US-India Nuclear Deal[english]

The US-India nuclear agreement, often known as the "123 Agreement," unveiled by George W. Bush and Manmohan Singh on July 18, 2005, marked a turning point in both nations' ties. The Bush administration's implied recognition of India's nuclear arsenal and its abrupt lifting of three decades of sanctions sparked heated discussions in India and the USA. President Bush was criticized by the US anti-proliferation group for dealing with a country that has nuclear weapons but is not a signatory to the NPT and for thereby opening Pandora's box. This unique series investigates what went behind the complex nuclear deal argument, from the initial days of sanctions by the US government on India to the heated dispute in the US Senate regarding the bill to the passing of the Hyde Act by the US House of Representatives. Get the complete detail on probably the most important agreement between the two nations.
