Scratch, the Cat Who Wasn't a Cat: Fun filled adventure of Calvin, Pudge and Scratch.: Calvin thinks he's a kitten, Pudge isn't so sure...and Scratch is just here for fun!

A Calvin and Pudge Adventure! When a bobcat kitten pads into Calvin’s life, the woods begin whispering in clues—dashes on stones, bells on bridges, and mysteries tucked under willow roots. Scratch, the Cat Who Wasn’t a Cat is a heart-thumping, big-hearted middle-grade adventure about friendship, listening first, and protecting the wild places we love.Calvin thinks the wide world is one giant treasure hunt. Pudge (his ever-hungry beagle) thinks it’s mostly a snack hunt. And “Scratch”—the bobcat kitten who is absolutely not a house cat—thinks humans need lessons in porch manners and forest etiquette. When Scratch appears near Pine Meadow, everyday walks turn into clue-filled quests: tin tags with letters, secret marks on stepping stones, and bell chimes that mean “read, don’t rush.” With Ranger Beth’s steady guidance and Grandma’s “listen first” rule, Calvin and Pudge follow a trail of punctuation-shaped clues through creeks, nurse logs, and starry evenings, learning how to help without harming and how to celebrate with presence, not noise. But the meadow holds hazards too—stray fishing line, careless litter, and people who don’t know the rules yet. As the mysteries stack up, Calvin must decide what kind of hero he’ll be: the loud kind…or the kind who lets the forest speak. Part cozy mystery, part outdoor adventure, Scratch, the Cat Who Wasn’t a Cat delivers laugh-out-loud moments, edge-of-the-porch suspense, and a quietly powerful message of stewardship. Perfect for readers who love animals, clues, and the thrill of finding wonder right where they live.Read more
