North to Wrigley: End of the Summer Road

Climbers climb because the mountain is there. In this compelling account, the author undertakes a 3,750-mile journey on a single-cylinder motorcycle for much the same reason. According to the map, the tiny village of Wrigley is there—near the center of Canada’s renowned Northwest Territories. But can he make it there from northwestern Oregon? And can he make it home?North to Wrigley: End of the Summer Roadis half travelogue, half repair manual, half endurance test, half autobiography—and perhaps a quarter philosophic dabbling. There might even be a chuckle or two! Though adding up to well over a whole, the extra weight doesn’t seem to throw the author too far off his at times precarious balance. If you’re looking for a motorcycle memoir that’s a bit more than that, this might be just the one.
