Mission Vigilant: A Mother's Crusade to Stem the Tide of Veteran Suicide

Have you lost a loved one to suicide?Do you know a parent who has?Are you concerned about the military veteran in your life?Susan Cleland found herself on a new life path, one she would never have willingly taken, following the loss of her Air Force veteran son, Michael Ryan Vinson, on June 9, 2019. As a result of this devastating tragedy, Susan has made it her mission to share the lessons God taught her in the wake of Michael’s death. Even though Susan and her family will never fully recover from the emotional wounds caused by grief and deep sorrow, she offers encouragement, hope, and purpose to other survivors of veteran suicide.“Mission Vigilantis a deeply personal, broadly engaged exploration of a particular kind of grief that seems impossible to overcome—the grief of those left behind when a loved one (specifically, those who’ve served in the military) takes their own life. Susan Cleland’s intimate account of her grief and that of others offers the impossible hope that only the undaunted Jesus can give. He is not scared of the dark so that He can be with us in the darkness—even a darkness as deep as suicide. If you are grieving or know someone who is, this book will be a companion to you.”--Rick Lawrence, Co-author ofThe Suicide Solutionand author ofJesus-Centered DailyRead more
