DARK PLACES: 20 Poems - 20 Illustrations

In this series of 20 poems illustrated by 20 digital art collages, the author and artist Tia Moon expresses her difficult journey through mental illness, depression, anxiety, panic attacks and chronic pains, such as migraines. How can people who live in darkness find their place in societies—especially Western societies—obsessed with concepts that deny their reality, such as the harmful “positive thinking” trend? With simple, straightforward words, Tia’s tone is crude and unapologetic, but she always speaks the truth. Individuals who live in darkness and pain possess an acute perception of our world, making them more sensitive and empathetic to others. With her hard-hitting words and abstract visual creations, Tia shows that beauty, love, compassion, and even humour can also be found in darkness. DARK PLACES can be defined as a Gothic work, but it is foremost the depiction of a unique underworld. A precious black gem.Read more
