Are You Ready for Victory?: Sermons in Deuteronomy, Chapters 1 - 4

These messages were preached consecutively as part of the study in the book of Deuteronomy at Immanuel Baptist Church in Tucumcari, New Mexico.Pastor Runyan brings his conversational, "street-level" style to bear on the last of the books of Moses, Deuteronomy. The second generation after the exodus from Egypt had come to the banks of the Jordan River, able to look across into the Promised Land. They had recently accomplished two stunning victories against the imposing armies of pagan kings.Deuteronomy is the last address of Moses to the people. If they were going to conquer the land, it would only be as they sought to obey the God who gave it to Abraham. So we have Deuteronomy, the second giving of the Law of God, as the means to their victory.Pastor Gordan Runyan has given us a great example of what it means for an Evangelical preacher to preach relevant, challenging, "New Testament" messages from the Old Testament. His passion for the Gospel radiates from these pages and will encourage you to seek the Lord Jesus in all of your endeavors. His messages combine scholarship, humor, and love for his people with points of application that reach beyond the normal focus, which is generally the heart of the individual believer. He will show why Deuteronomy is still a vital piece to everything we seek to do as believers, in family, church, and state.Read more
