Githunguri Town is a vibrant agricultural hub located in Githunguri Constituency, Kiambu County. It serves as the administrative headquarters of Githunguri Sub-County and lies about 49.5 km from Nairobi CBD and 19.3 km from Kiambu Town. Set on a hilly terrain, the town enjoys a cool, mild highland climate that supports farming and comfortable living. The town center is fairly clean and well organized, with trees lining most of the roads, giving it a calm and refreshing feel. Githunguri features a mix of modern buildings and old-style Kenyan apartments, reflecting both growth and history. The streets are busy with activity, lined with hardwares, general shops, roadside eateries, restaurants, mini-markets, supermarkets, and several petrol stations. There are also banks offering essential financial services, and a main transport stage connecting passengers to different parts of Kenya. Githunguri is deeply rooted in agriculture, especially dairy farming. The town hosts a milk processing plant, and most residents keep dairy cattle. As you walk around, you’ll often see hay being sold along the streets for cows.
