Cyril tries delay as Parliament forges ahead

الوصف

President Ramaphosa’s decision to launch a review application after the Constitutional Court’s explosive Phala Phala ruling has triggered a major constitutional and political battle. But can the courts actually stop Parliament’s impeachment process? In this episode, we unpack the president’s legal strategy, the difference between a review and an interdict, and why Parliament’s impeachment committee is still likely to proceed in parallel. We examine the constitutional principles at stake, the hierarchy of courts, the OUTA principle, and the precedent set during the Mkhwebane impeachment saga. Could this review genuinely overturn the process — or is it ultimately a strategy to buy time while the political clock keeps ticking? Spread the fire.
