Batje's Take #10 | The Fridge Lesson | Is your career risk managed?

الوصف

What if the biggest risks in your career are the ones you never thought to plan for? In this episode of Batje’s Take, I reflect on my conversation with Una Nyikadzino (Founder of StandOwt and former Executive Director at Schweppes Holdings Africa) and the powerful lessons on risk, resilience, and building something that lasts. From a small business owner losing everything because a fridge was switched off… to my own experience losing 10 years of emails during a system migration… this episode explores the hidden risks that can quietly undo years of work. But more importantly, it connects those lessons to your career. Because risk management is not just for entrepreneurs. It is for anyone navigating uncertainty, transition, or growth. In this episode, I share: • Why we often prepare for the wrong risks • The concept of “water” as the foundation every career needs • How assumptions (not lack of effort) can cost you the most • And 3 practical ways to start managing your career risks today If you are navigating a transition, building a Plan B, or simply thinking more intentionally about your next move this episode is for you. 🎧 Listen, reflect, and share with someone who might need it.
