The Young Country Doctor Book 4: Bilbury Country

Bilbury Country is the fourth book in The Young Country Doctor series by Dr Vernon Coleman. The books are all set in the village of Bilbury in the English county of Devon. It's the 1970s and the village is old-fashioned and, in many ways, cut off from the world. Bilbury Country includes the usual cast of villagers - as well as the doctor and his wife. `The fourth book in the series describes what happens to Bilbury and its villagers when a newspaper story turns a trickle of visitors into a flood. Full of charm and humour.' - News & Star The Bilbury books have attracted great reviews and thousands of fans around the world. `You can sniff the clean Devon air and recognise characters indigenous to any West Country village. Dr Coleman harnesses the essence of village life with a wealth of characters and strings them along on a tide of gentle humour.' Western Morning News `A cornupcopia of colourful characters helps to weave a rich tapestry of village life subtly tempered with the gentle humour which hallmarks this author's work. Set in the 1970s, the mixture of rural beauty, human nature and the odd whisper of nostalgia combine to make this book a real delight.' Western Gazette `Coleman handles the humour with the assured touch that comes from having already written a string of successful titles (and) manages to retain a heartwarming affection for his fellow man.' - Yorkshire Evening Post `For sheer relaxing pleasure here's another witty tale from the doctor whose prolific writings are so well known to many of us.' Bookshelf (BBC) `Captures the essence of old fashioned village life where you never needed to lock your door.' - Western Evening Herald `A pleasure to read from cover to cover.' - Kentish Express The author of the Bilbury books, Vernon Coleman, is a bestselling writer whose books have sold over two million hardback and paperback copies in the UK alone and been translated into 24 languages. Trained as a doctor, Dr Coleman is still a registered GP, though he has earned his living as an author for many years
