The Best of Capernwray: Notes on the Old Testament and More

The Best of Capernwray. How audacious! Is this to say that the founders were better Bible teachers than the present ones? No. “Capernwray” dates back to post-war times in England when a former major general was able to purchase and turn an old castle into a Bible school and conference center. The Torchbearer ministry has since multiplied to 19 other countries and reached tens of thousands of people. This small volume contains the writings of the first principal of this school, which was located in the beautiful Lake District of Northern England. There are notes on the entire Old Testament, as well as on how we got our Bible and on the intertestamental period. Few people have devoted an entire lifetime to such deep study of the Bible as L.A.T. Van Dooren. Knowing and applying the Bible well is the basis for living a vibrant Christian life and to be an effective light in a dark world; hence, a “Torchbearer.” Miriam Maranzenboim is an American-Israeli who has lived in Israel since 1977. Author of the well-received Josephus: The History of the Jews Condensed in Simple English, she has since written Two Books for Daniel, Is Israel REALLY the Pits? and Miriam’s Collection. She resides in Haifa with her husband, a refusenik from the former Soviet Union.Read more
