Portrait of My Best Friend

Charlotte's perfect girlfriend lives on the top shelf of her closet.Oh, the irony! When Charlotte's best friend dumps her for boys and beer parties, she locks her bedroom door and starts to draw. She's tried to fit in, but it isn't a boy she wants. If only Autumn were real, instead of just a pile of drawings that she's been hiding from her mother.Charlotte knows Autumn isn't real. It's just that she's fallen in love with the idea of having a secret girlfriend. Someone special to talk to that understands her. But when Autumn starts talking back, that's when things get confusing. Then one morning a beautiful redhead sits down next to Charlotte in English class, and hiding in the closet gets a whole lot more complicated. Lilly Roberts has the same blue eyes, the same tantalizingly long legs, and the same heart-stopping smile as the girl in Charlotte's drawings. She's Charlotte's dream girl come to life. But the new girl isn't perfect. Nope. Not even close. Is it possible that Charlotte's perfect girlfriend isn't a fantasy at all? That maybe she's someone who has been there all along and just happens to be perfect for Charlotte? Autumn thinks so, and she's never wrong."What an amazing story with such an original concept!""I thought I had outgrown YA books, but this one brought me right back.""Heartfelt and so funny!""Raw, funny, and occasionally painful. I loved all the stuff going on in Charlotte's head.""One of the best reads I've had in a long time! Profound, real, and raw to the core.""The dialogue shines, especially between mother and daughter...a perfect story about imperfect characters. So very good!!!""This book didn't go where I thought it would, but damn it was a good story.""A great coming of age dramedy about coping, coming out, and finding that one person that makes it all worthwhile.""I loved this book! A well written story about two teenagers journey to accept their sexuality."Read more
