Divine Duty: A Corpman’s Journey To Faith In The Vietnam War

In the crucible of war, where death and survival walk hand in hand, one man grapples with faith, duty, and the meaning of sacrifice. John Peck, a young Navy corpsman deployed to Vietnam in 1967, found himself on the front lines—not just of combat, but of an inner war between doubt and belief. Charged with the immense responsibility of saving lives amidst the relentless violence of war, Peck bore witness to the rawest forms of courage, loyalty, and loss. His days were filled with the agony of the wounded, the chaos of battle, and the unspoken fear that each mission might be his last. Yet, through it all, something deeper was at work—an invisible force challenging his anger, his pain, and his disillusionment with God.Fifty years later, Peck’s hauntingly beautiful poetry, written in the heart of the battlefield and preserved for decades by his devoted wife, Carol, finally comes to light. These verses—born from desperation, hope, and the fragile moments of humanity in the midst of war—reveal a man’s struggle not just to survive, but to understand the divine in the darkest of places.Divine Dutyis more than a war memoir; it is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit, the brotherhood of those who serve, and the journey of a soldier who dared to wrestle with faith in a time when God seemed silent. Through vivid storytelling and deeply personal reflections, Peck takes readers beyond the battlefield and into the soul of a man forever changed by war.For those who have ever questioned faith, faced the burden of duty, or sought meaning in suffering,Divine Dutyoffers a poignant and unforgettable story of redemption, love, and the enduring power of belief...Read more
